Pet Friendly Flooring for Hard Surface Fans

Many pet owners choose hard surfaces over carpet, for many reasons. Pets tend to have more accidents than humans– whether they’re puppies or grown adults. To make cleaning up after them easier, hard surfaces work great. Finding the right fit for your home, and your pet, means sorting through lots of options. You may want to make sure that whatever flooring option you choose won’t get scratched easily by your long-nailed cat, or is highly water resistant for your puppy who’s still learning.

Whatever your pet situation, consider these options:

Waterproof Luxury Vinyl Tile (LVWPC)

If you love the look of hardwood floors, but don’t want to risk your cat or dog ruining them, you may want to choose waterproof core luxury vinyl tile. This flooring option can mimic the look of hardwood floors or even natural stone tile, but is easier on your wallet and better for houses that have pets. It’s durable and affordable, allowing you and your pet the opportunity to enjoy the inside of your home without having to worry about damage.

Tile and Stone Flooring

Many pet owners love tile and stone flooring because it’s easy to clean and can hold up to anything your pet does to it. What makes them pet friendly flooring options is that they are water-resistance and stain-resistance, so you won’t have to worry about accidents, trekked in dirt and the like! Some people love the coldness and hardness of stone and tile, and some don’t. If you don’t love the cold hard surface, just get a few rugs and you should be good!

Engineered Hardwood Flooring

If you must have hardwood floors, you may want to go with engineered hardwood flooring options since they’re more affordable than solid hardwood. Be sure to find one with a quality veneer to withstand scratches. Keep in mind, you can refinish these floors in the future, which is a great feature.
